Past residences and current home - California, Oregon, St.Croix, St. Thomas, Nevada, and now Madison, WI - greatly influence my artwork. My abstract, elegant and expressive pieces reflect the intense and rapid movement of everyday life as experienced in Northern California, Oregon, and Las Vegas, Nevada. The more vibrant, jovial feel of other works comes from encounters while living in St. Croix, St. Thomas, and now Madison, WI. I was inspired to teach myself to paint after I saw my grandmother's sketches, learned of my Uncle Mark Sabino’s art career and heard of a family member's involvement in the design of the St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands flag. These artistic connections fueled my ambition to bond with art communities wherever I have lived. Earlier works and current pieces are acrylic on stretched canvas. As my skill set progresses, I challenge myself to expand my artistic abilities using alternate material, such as joint compound, paper products, cement and layered gesso texturing. With these varied materials, I am given countless possibilities to creatively express my talent.
